The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
